Note: Windows 10 Mail will not synchronize calendars and contacts with SmarterMail. We have also found that the Sent Items folder does not always sync (POP or IMAP).
Reconfigure an existing account
- Click the Accounts header on the left and then select the account you wish to update.
- Select Change mailbox sync settings
- Select Advanced mailbox settings at the bottom
- Enter the following:
Incoming email server: IMAP secure.myvcgmail.com:993 | POP: secure.myvcgmail.com:995
Outgoing (SMTP) email server: secure.myvcgmail.com:465 - Check Requires SSL for incoming email.
- Check Requires SSL for outgoing email.
- Click Done.
- Your account should now be configured with SSL.
Note: If there is a problem with the account right-click the account > select Account Settings > re-enter your password > and click Save.
- If using Windows Mail for the first time skip to step 3.
- To add a new account click the Accounts header on the left and then select + Add account.
- Scroll down and select Advanced setup
- Select Internet email
- Enter the following:
Email address: name@yourwebsite.com
Username: name@yourwebsite.com
Password: ********* (click the eye to confirm password)
Account Name: John Smith
Send your message using this name: John Smith
Incoming email server: secure.myvcgmail.com
Account type: IMAP4 or POP3 (we suggest IMAP)
Outgoing (SMTP) email server: secure.myvcgmail.com - Leave the Authentication, Password, and SSL options checked.
- Click Sign in.
- You will get an All done! - Your account was set up successfully message. Click Done.
It may take a few seconds but your account should come up and start syncing your mail.
