Login instructions
You can use either of the following methods to login to your SmarterMail account:
- Login to the VCG Portal at www.myvcg.com/login, click on Website (main navigation link), Site Admin, SmarterMail, and then click on the Launch SmarterMail button. Clicking the button will open a new login window in your browser to access the SmaterMail interface. Please note that the login information may be separate from your VCG Portal login.
- Type the login URL for SmarterMail directly in your browser http://webmail.[yourdomain.com], where [yourdomain.com] is the Internet address of your Website.
IMPORTANT: This guide is for VCG-hosted email clients only. If you are not subscribed to our services please contact your email provider for assistance configuring your iPhone.
With POP3, your mail is saved in a mailbox on the remote server until you check your mail. When you check your mail, all of the mail is downloaded to your device and is no longer maintained on the server. If you use POP3 and are traveling or check your mail from multiple locations, you will not be able to view any of your old mail because the messages only exist on the device/computer on which you originally received your mail.
Reconfigure an existing account
- On the iPhone, navigate to Settings.
- Tap Mail, and then select Accounts.
- Tap the account you wish to edit > Select the POP account.
- Scroll down and Select Outgoing Mail Server
- Tap the Primary Server
- Match the following outgoing mail server information:

Host Name is secure.myvcgmail.com
-
User Name is your full email address
-
Password is the same password used to access webmail

Use SSL: On
-
Authentication: Password
-
Port: 25 (or 465)
- Click Done to verify the settings. If the account gets stuck Verifying for more than a minute navigate away by manually closing Settings and return to Step 1 above. When you get to Step 6 use the alternative port (i.e. Port 465 if you originally used 25).
- Click Account (top left) to return to the main settings screen.
- Scroll to the bottom and select Advanced
- Scroll down to the Incoming Settings and update to match the following:

Use SSL: On
-
Authentication: Password
-
Port: 995
- Click Account (top left) to return to the main settings screen.
- Click Done to verify the settings.
- If the account setup was successful you will see several verification checkmarks. At this point you can choose to enable Notes or click Save at the top to complete the setup.
- Tap the Mail App to check that your configuration is working.
Follow these steps to create a new POP3 connection to SmarterMail on an Apple iOS device like the iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch:
- On the iPhone, navigate to Settings.
- Tap Mail, and then select Accounts.
- Tap Add Account.
- Tap Other.
- Tap Add Mail Account.
- Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.
- Click Next (this may take a minute).
- Ensure POP is selected
- Enter your incoming mail server information:

Hostname is secure.myvcgmail.com

Username is your full email address
-
Password is the same password used to access webmail
- Enter your outgoing mail server information:
-
Hostname is secure.myvcgmail.com

Username is your full email address
-
Password is the same password used to access webmail
- Tap Next.
- If the account setup was successful you will see several verification checkmarks.
- Open the Mail App to check your configuration.
Click here if you are unable to setup the account with SSL.
Continued from step 11 above:
- The phone will attempt to Verify the server identity. If you receive the Cannot Verify Server Identity alert click Details (If you get an SSL alert see Step 4 below).
- Next select Trust to validate the server.
- Tap Save (go to Step 8 below).
- The account will attempt to retrieve default settings from the server, and then present the message Cannot Connect Using SSL. Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?. Please be patient while the settings try and authenticate with the server. Since the account is attempting to be setup securely but there is not an SSL assigned to the mail domain, it is okay to tap Yes at this point.
- Choose Yes.
- Tap Save.
- When prompted, "This account may not be able to send or receive emails. Are you sure you want to save," tap Save.
- Tap the account you just added (identified by your email address).
- Scroll down and tap the SMTP button.
- Select the server you just added (secure.myvcgmail.com).
- Select OFF for Use SSL (default option).
- Select Authentication and change it to Password.
- Server Port should be set to 587 (use Port 25 if necessary).
- Select Done at the top (the phone will Verify your settings).
- Select Account at the top to go back.
- Tap Advanced (bottom).
- Scroll down to Incoming Settings.
- Select OFF for Use SSL.
- Select Authentication and change it to Password.
- Select 110 for Server Port.
- Tap your Account to go back.
- Tap Done to go back (the phone will Verify your settings).
- Tap the Home button.
- Tap the Mail App to check your configuration.
