You can have multiple taxes to meet varying local and state requirements. Note, however, that you can't apply a specific tax to a specific quote item. That is, if the quote item is "taxable" (Taxable checkbox for the item is checked), then whatever tax you apply at the quote level will be applied to all taxable items in the quote.
So, for example, if you have two taxes set up in Quote Manager.
- One is a state tax of 7%
- The other is a county tax of 3%
If a quote item is marked as taxable, then a total of 10% will be applied to the item price. You can choose to show or hide the two separate taxes on the customer facing quote or hide both and just show the tax total.
To create a new Tax Rate:
- Click on Admin > Quote Manager.
- Click on TAXES in top sub-nav.
- Click on Add New Tax Rate.
- Assign a name to the tax to identify it in the drop-down selection when creating a new quote.
- Enter the tax rate (for example, expressed as 3.4 for a 3.4% tax rate).
- Click the Create Tax Rate button.
