PRO's mail server was temporarily paralyzed by a heavy DDoS cyber-attack initiated from an IP address from Brazil late last week (not unlike the large scale attack that caused Microsoft Outlook outages this past June https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/18/23765124/microsoft-outlook-june-ddos-attack-anonymous-sudan or the similar attacks that temporarily crippled Amazon and Google in August https://therecord.media/largest-ddos-incidents-amazon-cloudflare-google). While our firewall was 100% successful in blocking the attacker from gaining any access, their repeated attempts to do so overwhelmed our servers at times, resulting in traffic disruptions and in some cases, failures to successfully deliver email. As such, it would be prudent for any of our users that sent emails through PRO on Friday, January 5th to follow-up with their intended recipients to ensure that those emails were in fact received.
We understand that dependable email deliverability is a top-of-the-list priority for our users and we sincerely apologize for this unfortunate incident. Steps have since been taken to not only continue to effectively block such attacks but also to better mitigate the negative affects of the attempts.
Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this unfortunate incident may have caused and thank you for your patronage.
