This is a quick tip to access your FTP folder directly from your Operating System.
Windows OS
- Open a Windows explorer window (Windows key + E) and type the FTP address (ftp://domainname.com) in the file path at the top and hit Enter.
- Enter the username and password into the prompt window. You can save the password and the login settings to expedite future logins.
- Now, depending on the home directory, you and your clients will have direct access to your ftp folder. The file upload size is now unlimited though we suggest you quickly remove larger files so not to consume your allotted disk space.
Mac OS (2018 - present)
The ftp.domainname.com server connection does not always work on newer versions of MacOS. If the Finder is unable to connect to the server or you are unable to view your files please navigate to ftp://ftp.domainname.com/ from a supported browser.
Note: Please use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome - the default Safari browser did not work and instead pointed back to the Finder (which was found to be problematic when connecting).
- Open a supported browser and visit your unique ftp link (example ftp://domainname.com/).
Tips: Once logged in you can click the to column headers (Name, Size, Date Modified) to reorder the list.
Mac OS (High Sierra and older)
- Open a new Finder window by clicking the app’s icon in the dock or using the Command-N keyboard shortcut.
- Open the Go menu and select Connect to Server or use the Command-K keyboard shortcut.
- In the Server Address field enter in the FTP Address (ftp://domainname.com) and select Connect.
Disclaimer: Passwords with the "@" symbol will trigger and error in Finder instead of trying to connect. This is true even if the password works when logging into a browser or on a PC.
